Facets of Wisdom – On Self-Love

Written and edited by Sundeelia VaCoupe

My sister Tazjma VaCoupe wrote many things before she ascended Home.  Here are some of her thoughts on self-love, a concept that confuses many people since they have been conditioned not to love self, thinking it is selfish, and “you should always think about others before yourself.”  In a way, that is true, but the key to service is to love self first and through the understanding you gain about your own humanity, you learn compassion for other people.  When you can extend compassion and acceptance of the choices of others, you are extending it to yourself as well.

Only through self-love, self-acceptance, and self-knowledge can you truly understand what it is to be human.  Then and only then you can truly serve humanity with an open heart and unconditional love.  Your acceptance of the choices of others does not mean that you necessarily agree with them, or will not oppose them if they infringe on your own sovereignty and that of others, but you accept the right to each individual to make choices due to the existence of free will on this planet.  This is an act of acceptance of all that you have had to go through to reach the capacity to feel unconditional love about your own circumstances and choices.

Now on to the words of Lady Taz:

“Self-love… when you fully love self, you do not feel the judgments of others and likewise, you do not judge others as wanting, which is a consequence of projecting your inner feelings out into the world around you. Obviously, I understand this intellectually, but still, there emerges this kind of “stuff” to be looked at, hopefully dispassionately, but certainly with interest. In, “like, why am I still doing that?”

We’re human and as humans, we have taken on quite a load of s**t to turn into usable compost, reformatted and transmuted as energy for the good of the world. Love does have to enter into the process as being the only solvent to dissolve self-hatred and transmute it into self-love. (The highest essence of “love” is the Violet Flame that will dissolve, transmute, and transform hatred and fear into love).

Without loving self, you cannot truly love others. And without loving others, you cannot fully serve unconditionally. If the tiniest particle of self-hatred and/or resentment remains, there is always a condition about your love and your service to others.

If you believe that you are worthy to receive the love that you are love and capable of giving love, then your world will begin to reflect those qualities back to you within the interactions you have with those around you in your daily life. I get the oddest smiles from people I don’t know! And give them a big smile, back!

Love is all there is. Love is where it’s “at”. Learn to love self. Meanwhile, I’ll do my best and attempt the same. Shouldn’t give advice on something I haven’t tried on myself!”

There we are.  Let me know if these tidbits are helpful in the Comment section.  Meanwhile, enjoy the unfolding of spring in the northern latitudes and autumn in the south.

Namaste,

Sundeelia and Tazjma VaCoupe
