Journal Entry 03.09.2017 – Winter Sun
Florida has no shortage of sunshine. It seems this winter is a bit drier and warmer than last winter. Today was 72 degrees F and felt a lot warmer, with light breezes near the water.
I was up for a little outing today so meandered to my favorite haunts: Betty Steflik Preserve in Flagler Beach and Washington Oaks Gardens State Park. The following photos are a bit of what I saw today:
It was low tide at Washington Oaks Gardens beach. And the azaleas in the formal gardens are going off their height of bloom, having been beaten up in our latest rain storm. Still, the park is always a pleasant place to visit. The roses are starting to show buds and vigorous growth after their winter pruning. Give it a couple of weeks and there should be some beautiful blooms for photographing.
On the way back, I stopped off at a small nursery in the Hammock. I’m still getting acquainted with the plant material here, so a nursery is a good place to go to learn things. I’ve been a plant enthusiast since childhood.
Enjoy your weekend, everyone… as well as the upcoming full moon!
