Artwork is all about inner explorations, using color, texture and design to evoke a sense of place, another inner world that only the artist can convey. As the artist’s technique and dedication grows so does his art.
It seems that with every painting I start now I hit another level of understanding the elements that make up a piece. By no means settling on one particular “style” I continue to explore the variations on a theme that makes doing art exciting, dynamic and ever-changing.
With this latest piece that I just spent four hours working on, I used a combination of palette knife application and brush work. There’s still some minor adjustments to make, but on the whole, I’m pleased with the effort. It’s pretty obvious that I’ve managed to “loosen” up my style, not picking at the details as much as I did in early pieces.
The piece was inspired by a photo that I took on a trip to Costa Rica. The beach is la Playa Ballena (Beach of the Whale), located on the southeast coast near the tiny town of Uvita.
I encourage everyone to find some kind of creative endeavor that appeals to your senses. It is a good way to temporarily leave behind any over-obsessing you might be experiencing due to the apparent chaos and changes going on in the world. Explore YOUR inner world and discover new things about yourself. Stretch beyond your limits and see what is possible.
Many blessings and love to all,
