Journal Entry 08.26.2016 – Latest Artwork…

Here’s a portrait I did in acrylics on canvas paper, from a photograph taken in the 1890’s, towards the end of the Indian wars.  This fellow is an Apache chief, unnamed.  Not the best photo, but you get the gist.

Some of you may or may not know that I was an active participant in those wars, being incarnated then as a Native American male in the Wallowa Band of the Nez Perce.  I’m still an admirer of the beauty of the Native American facial features, with its strong chins, high cheekbones, high arching nose and full lips.  Any portrait is a challenge… something I love to do.

And on to other things… it looks like South Florida is going to be menaced by a possible tropical depression, storm or even hurricane.  A lot depends on the flow of dry winds coming down the coast towards Cuba and the outlying islands.  Where I live shouldn’t be affected, but we could do with some rain…

Have a safe and fun weekend wherever you call home… or home away from home!

Namaste,

Eliza Ayres
